Broadwood, Lucy Etheldred (b Melrose, 1858; d Canterbury, 1929). Eng. folk-song collector. Daughter of H. F. Broadwood of pf. firm and niece of Rev. John Broadwood, whose interest in folk-song she pursued. Pubd. Sussex Songs 1889, being an expanded reprint of her uncle's Old English Songs, and English County Songs (with J. A. Fuller Maitland) 1893. Founder-member of Folk Song Soc. 1898, serving as its hon. sec. 1904–8 and 1914–18. Encouraged Vaughan Williams to collect folk-songs.
