Description: Independent, comprehensive, specialized, coed. Awards bachelor's and master's degrees. Founded 1961. Setting: 60-acre suburban campus with easy access to Los Angeles. Community Environment: Valencia is located on the Golden State Freeway (Interstate 5) 35 miles north of Los Angeles, and historically has been devoted to agriculture and cattle ranching. The area, encompassing the towns of Newhall, Saugus, Valencia and Castaic, is surrounded by the Tehachapi Mountains to the North, the San Gabriel to the east and the Santa Susana to the west. In the last 10 years light industry and numerous housing developments have contributed to the city's growth.
