Fétis, Adolphe (-Louis-Eugène)
Fétis, Adolphe (-Louis-Eugène), Belgian-French pianist, teacher, and composer, son of François Joseph and brother of Édouard (-Louis-François) Fétis; b. Paris, Aug. 20, 1820; d. there, March 20, 1873. He studied music with his father and then at the Brussels Cons.; subsequently studied piano with Herz and composition with Halévy in Paris. After living in Brussels and Antwerp, he settled in Paris in 1856 as a music teacher and composer. He wrote several comic operas and music for the piano.
