Sorel, Claudette (1930–)

French pianist and teacher. Born in Paris on Oct 10, 1930; studied with Olga Samaroff.

Noted for her performances of little-known Romantic works, had a light, delicate touch, playing with imagination and sensitivity; also showed an affinity for Russian composers and recorded several solo works by Sergei Rachmaninoff; as a musical scholar, edited the works of such lesser-known Russians as Anton Arensky; taught.
